What is LIFE+?

It is an instrument that funds measures that contribute to the development of community policy related to the environment

Its purpose consists of contributing to the application of the “Directive Related to the Conservation of Natural Habitats” and the “Community Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds” and, in particular, Natura 2000

It is intended for carrying out work for the maintenance and recuperation of habitats and species of flora and fauna of community interest

It applies to places of community importance (area of Natura 2000), precisely ZECs (Special Protection Zones) and SPAs (Special Protection Areas) of the members states of the European Union

There are three types of LIFE + projects: LIFE + Nature-Biodiversity that is dedicated to preserving, restoring and assisting the functioning of natural systems, natural habitats, wild flora and fauna; LIFE + Policy and Governance dedicated to differents aspects such as climate change, water, the sun, noise, the environment and health, natural resources and waste, chemical products, etc.; and LIFE + Information and Communication to raise awareness on environmental issues
